StormHarbour, a leading independent global markets and financial advisory firm, announces today that Amir Hoveyda has joined as a Managing Principal.

Hoveyda, who has over 23-years of combined investment banking and capital markets experience, will be based in London and his responsibilities will include developing and implementing the growth strategies of the firm’s European capital markets and advisory businesses, helping manage the firm’s overall European operations, and supporting the leadership of the firm worldwide, as a member of the firm’s global governance group.

Hoveyda was most recently Managing Director and Head of High Grade and High-Yield Debt Capital Markets for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and a member of the Global Capital Markets and EMEA Corporate and Investment Banking Executive Management Committees of Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofAML), based in London. He left BofAML in 2010 having first joined Merrill Lynch in 1996, and having held several senior management positions, including Head of Global Financial Institutions Group.

Credited with building one of the leading capital and balance sheet management franchises for European financial institutions while at BofAML, Hoveyda originated and executed some of the largest and most innovative capital raising and balance sheet management transactions in the financial institutions sector.

Antonio Cacorino, Managing Principal of StormHarbour in London, commented: “Amir is a highly seasoned and respected capital markets professional with over two decades of securities industry experience, extensive senior issuer and investor relationships and proven track record of building market-leading businesses that have consistently delivered value and innovative financial solutions to clients. Such experience is invaluable and Amir will play an integral role in the future growth and development of the firm as it continues to evolve and capitalise on market opportunities, globally.”

Hoveyda commented: “StormHarbour’s business model is a unique, differentiated and highly successful one. Since its foundation, just over two years ago, the firm has achieved critical scale and global scope in its core businesses, creating a solid foundation for its long-term growth and development. It is a very exciting privilege for me to be joining such a distinguished partnership at a still relatively early stage of its development and to have the opportunity to help it realise its full potential.”

Hoveyda’s appointment brings the number of Managing Principals at StormHarbour to seven, including Antonio Cacorino and Thierry Sciard in London, Fredrick Chapey, Robert Cummings and Sohail Khan in New York and Michimasa Naka in Tokyo.

StormHarbour’s core businesses are sales and trading, structuring and advisory, capital markets and asset management under StormHarbour Alternative Investments.
