StormHarbour, a leading independent global markets and financial advisory firm, announces today that Adriaan van der Knaap has joined the firm as a Principal and Managing Director.

Van der Knaap, who has over 21 years of combined investment banking and capital markets experience, will be responsible for US Financial Institutions Capital Markets. He is based in StormHarbour’s New York office.

Van der Knaap was most recently a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group at UBS in New York, where he was responsible for coverage of banks, restructuring and structured solutions. Previously responsibilities at UBS included Chairman of the Global Structured Capital Markets group, head of FIG Debt Capital Markets and founder and head of the FIG Solutions team.

Prior to UBS, Adriaan worked at Merrill Lynch where he was head of the New Products Team for the Americas, responsible for the origination, structuring and execution of innovative capital markets and private transactions. He started his career in investment banking in 1990 at Citicorp where he was part of the Capital Structuring Team in New York, London and Amsterdam.

Van der Knaap’s appointment is the latest StormHarbour has made this year to its senior ranks and forms part of the firm’s strategy to selectively add highly experienced professionals to its team and continue to build on the successes it has already achieved globally and in sectors where there are substantial opportunities.
