London and New York: April 19, 2012 – StormHarbour, a leading independent global markets and financial advisory firm, announces today that Gonzalo Chocano has joined the firm as a Principal and Managing Director.
Chocano, who has over 18 years of combined investment banking and capital markets experience, will be chiefly responsible in his role as part of the senior team in helping to drive client coverage in Spain across the core businesses of sales and trading, structuring and advisory, and capital markets. He is based in StormHarbour’s London office.
Chocano was most recently a Managing Director of Debt Markets and Head of Global Futures & Derivatives Clearing Services at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BOAML) in New York. Previously, Chocano held a number of other senior roles at Merrill Lynch in New York and London, including: Head of the Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities Strategic Solutions Group for North America; Head of European Interest Rate Sales, Foreign Exchange Sales and Listed Derivatives Businesses (London); and Head of Institutional Debt Market Activity (London) for Southern Europe.
He left BOAML in 2011 having originally joined Merrill Lynch in 2000 from Goldman Sachs International, where he was a Vice President in the firm’s Fixed Income Division. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1994.
Chocano’s appointment is the latest StormHarbour has made this year to its senior ranks and forms part of the firm’s strategy to selectively add highly experienced professionals to its team and continue to build on the successes it has already achieved internationally and in important regional markets where there is substantial growth potential and opportunities.
