StormHarbour ("the Company"), the leading independent global markets and financial advisory firm, today announces the appointment of Mike Turnbull as Managing Director, Capital Markets, and Jonathan Spry as Head of Insurance Solutions and Advisory. Their appointments underline the Company's commitment to add highly experienced industry professionals and further build out its origination capabilities across its core securities businesses. Both Mike and Jonathan will report to Antonio Cacorino, Managing Principal, in London.

Mike Turnbull has 24 years' experience in investment and commercial banking, including eight years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he served as Head of Debt Capital Markets, prior to his appointment as Head of Infrastructure Financing. Mike will oversee StormHarbour's leading debt capital markets platform in London as part of its objective to help clients diversify their capital markets access through innovative product solutions for their Funding and Capital Management requirements. His appointment continues to establish StormHarbour's origination capabilities across a broad range of clients, including financial institutions, corporates and funds.

Mike previously spent 16 years at Morgan Stanley, where he held leadership roles in Capital Markets and Investment Banking. During this time he was responsible for the management of the bank's key client relationships in Europe and the Middle East and the origination of debt, derivatives and capital markets products; executing a number of strategic transactions for clients including the Bank of England, Network Rail and major financial institutions.

Jonathan Spry joins from RBS, where he was previously Head of Insurance Capital Management (Structured Solutions), and more recently, Head of UK Insurance Coverage. Jonathan will focus on developing StormHarbour's existing insurance capabilities, replicating the success of the firm's growing Structuring & Advisory division, providing advisory services, capital management and risk solutions to life and non-life (re)insurers, with a particular emphasis on sourcing alternative assets and securitisation structures.

Prior to RBS, Jonathan was a Senior Vice President in the capital markets division of the global reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, where he was responsible for capital markets advisory and the origination, structuring and execution of insurance linked securities. Between 2003 and 2007 Jonathan was Head of Insurance Linked Securities in Europe at Standard & Poor's, and has also held positions at Morgan Stanley and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. He brings to StormHarbour a wealth of expertise across the insurance sector, particularly across insurance capital, Solvency II, risk transformation, credit risk mitigation, alternative assets and securitisation.
